Get to know Late Night MAGIC star and co-producer Douglas "Lefty" Leferovich in this exclusive interview

Hilarious acts. Masterful illusions. Mind-bending feats. Welcome to Late Night MAGIC, the only adult-themed magic show in Las Vegas.

Hosted by co-creator and co-producer Douglas "Lefty" Leferovich, Late Night MAGIC lets well-known, expert magicians do what they do best- mesmerize an audience. Here, Lefty peels back the curtain to give you a glimpse of what makes the show so special.

Let’s talk about your background. Where are you from? When did you move to Las Vegas?

I was born and raised in a suburb about 20 minutes north of New York City.  I moved to Las Vegas in January 2002, after a successful run of a show called Manhattan Magic at the Sands Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, which I produced, directed, and starred in.

How did you break into magic?

I broke into magic at a very young age.  It's my first childhood memory.  My father was a lawyer in New York City, and my mom was home raising my brother and me.  It was my mom’s idea for my dad to pick a fun activity that could be “his thing” that he did to bond and spend time with his two sons.

When was your first performance?

My first show was when I was four years old for my pre-kindergarten class.  I only did one trick, turning a bit of yellow silk tied to a bit of green silk into a bit of red silk tied to a bit of blue silk.

Tell me about Late Night MAGIC. What makes it stand out from typical Vegas magic shows?

Late Night MAGIC stands out from other magic shows in Vegas first and foremost because…it's late night!  It's the only 11 pm adult magic show in Vegas.  This gives us the chance to push the envelope in terms of the material we are performing, as it can be adult-themed, and it can also touch on the dark and taboo sides of magic.

Also, it's the only magic show in Vegas that features five magicians.  Unlike typical magic shows in Vegas that feature one magician, Late Night MAGIC has multiple magicians who specialize in a particular field and are acknowledged as some of the most talented performers in their area.  Without giving away too much, certain acts do things that you can’t see in any other magic show in town!

What’s been the most memorable Late Night MAGIC performance so far? What made it special?

Recently we did four shows in one week, which was very memorable.  This show started as something that was going to be once a month, or every couple of months, and catered to locals.  Now we're doing three to four shows every week and almost selling out each show! With that being said, we are always adding things and changing things, so if you see the show more than once, you will see new bits and tricks all the time.

For me, I've enjoyed watching this cast come together as a team. The entertainment business can be driven by egos, but our show is about the collective whole and how can we each make each other better.

What’s your favorite Las Vegas memory?

I was fortunate enough to be a creative consultant on Wayne Newton’s show, Once Before I Go, at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino.  I learned so much from a true Vegas icon and just hearing his stories about Elvis and the Rat Pack- I will never forget that.

Second, going to college in Philadelphia, my freshman year Boyz II Men came out with their first album based in Philly.  Years later, I got hired to do lighting design for their show at the Mirage.

How can people connect with you?
